Reduce Stress in the Workplace
The key to reducing stress is through managing your energy. There are four key types of energy. Each of these energy types can be increased with actionable, conscious steps. By increasing your energy in these four key areas, you will better be able to manage and reduce stress.
Physical Stress
- Set an earlier bedtime
- Cardiovascular activity at least three times a week and strength training at least once
- Eat small meals every three hours
- Take brief but regular breaks
- Encourage positive emotions by showing appreciation to others
- Deep abdominal breathing
- Empathy for another person’s view
- Do high performance tasks in the morning, away from phone and email
- Respond to email and voicemail at specific intervals
- Identify important tasks that need to be done for the next day before you go to bed
- Work in your “sweet spot”
